Blinkist condenses non-fiction books into 10-20 minutes short reads. I feel like this is like eating ramen. Yes, it’s quick, easy and filling, but it lacks any real nutritional value. It’s not just about stuffing your stomach, it’s about savouring the taste and soaking up the ambience. But then what do I know? I could be wrong. Let’s see how it goes.
Subscription Plans (in HKD) :
• $118 for 1 month
• $238 for 3 months
• $698 for 1 year
Goal : Read as much as I can before the 7 days trial ends (13 March) so as to pre-select books for reading in full and review those I’ve already read.
Review : It’s the end of the trial period, I’ve selected heaps of books I’m gonna read in full. I reckon that the summary is like a trailer, you get a taste of what is to come, but it cannot replace the movie. Overall a great experience tho and these are the things I like …
• Able to read on Kindle
• Able to read and listen simultaneously (whispersync)
• Dual-narrated audio. The primary narrator does the majority of the work while the second one does the key messages. It deffo makes the key messages stand out
• The intro page esp. “who’s this book for?” section
• Able to see the highlights of all the books on one single page
• The “What to read next” suggestion
[Edited 15/3/2020] I found there’s a loophole. Premium subscribers can send Blinks to their Kindle. When the trial ends, they are not deleted from the Kindle. Unlike Kindle Unlimited, you lose your books if you cancel the subscription. You get the idea aye.
